- A 2-year postdoctoral / research associate position is open on the project funded by the European Space Agency (ESA) on Aeolus+Processes that will be carried out together with ECMWF. The ESA Earth Explorer Wind Mission Aeolus was successfully launched on 22 August 2018, https://www.esa.int/Applications/Observing_the_Earth/FutureEO/Aeolus. The assimilation of Aeolus winds improved global forecasts in all operational numerical weather prediction models, especially in the tropics. In the project, observing system experiments with the ECMWF model will be carried out together with ECMWF team and to quantify the impact of Aeolus on equatorial wave dynamics and to compare the information content of Aeolus with that of other data in relation to data assimilation modelling.
