Cold-point tropopause representation in reanalyses
Robin Pilch Kedzierski
In my talk I will motivate the importance of the tropical cold-point tropopause (CPT) for climate, and show how well (or not that well) it is represented in current reanalyses. A key factor in reanalysis CPT biases is the presence of equatorial waves near the tropopause, which modulate how sharp the transition from the troposphere to the stratosphere is in the tropics.
