Arrival
By plane
Visitors who arrive by plane reach the Geomatikum from the Hamburg Airport (Fuhlsbüttel)
- by taxi (approx. 25 min, around EUR 20,-) or
- by taking the commuter train S1 to station "Ohlsdorf", then taking the subway line U1 to "Kellinghusenstraße". Change to subway line U3 and exit at station "Schlump". The Geomatikum is located near the subway station (travel time around 30 min, ticket machine in the subway station, fare zone Greater Hamburg Area ("Großbereich"))
The working group Theoretical Meteorology at Grindelberg 7 can be reached
- by taxi (approx. 25 min, around EUR 20,-)

From there you can either walk or take the bus line #5 and exit at the next station "Bezirksamt Eimsbüttel" (ticket machine in the subway station, fare zone Greater Hamburg Area ("Großbereich")).
By train or long-distance bus
Visitors who arrive by train or long-distance bus,
- take the subway line U2 at the main train station ("Hamburg Hauptbahnhof") and exit at station "Schlump" (ticket machine in the subway station, fare zone Local journey ("Nahbereich")) or
- exit the train at Hamburg-Dammtor (ICE station). From here you can either take a taxi or walk 15 min to the Geomatikum.
The working group Theoretical Meteorology at Grindelberg 7 can be reached
- with the subway line U3 from the main train station ("Hamburg Hauptbahnhof"). Exit at the station "Hoheluftbrücke" and walk a few minutes from there or take the bus line #5 and exit the next station "Bezirksamt Eimsbüttel" (ticket machines in the subway station, fare zone Local journey ("Nahbereich")) or
- exit the train at Hamburg-Dammtor (ICE station). From here either take a taxi or walk 15 min.
By car
Visiting the Geomatikum by car is not recommended due to the lack of parking places.
In case you arrive by car anyway, drive on the A7 and take the exit "Hamburg-Volkspark". Then follow the signs to the town center or exhibition area ("Hamburg Messe"). The Geomatikum is located in the vicinity of the television tower ("Heinrich-Hertz-Turm") which can be seen from far away. From the Geomatikum it is only a few hundred meters to Grindelberg 7.
