Bachelor and Master courses accredited
The course of studies was accredited on April 20 2009 by the accrediting agency for courses in engineering, information technology, natural sciences and mathematics ASIIN. The accreditation is solely associated with a minor condition (An overhaul of the course module handbook).
On the contrary, the support of the students, the mentor programme and the availability of the contact persons was pointed out positively. Additionally the exceptional quality of the main courses and the favourable conditions for stays aboard was commended. According to the agency, Hamburg had been in a superior position regarding meteorology for decades, and set standards for global climate research. Consequently, this reputation was visible in the quality if the courses.
Criticism concerned mostly the description of the educational goals in the course module handbook, the university's study administration system STINE and the inadequate room setup for teaching and private studies. Also, the mathematical courses were rated being to far from application.
We will pick up the criticised topics and ensure remedy.
